
8 cups thin sliced apples
1 1/2 cups water
1 tsp lemon juice
1 2/3 cups white sugar
(small batch makes 1 1/2 pints)
- Peel and slice the apples thinly
- Add 1 tsp of lemon juice to the apples
- Cook on medium heat with 1/2 cup of the water. 3a. Used a heavy bottom stainless steel 4 quart pot and kept the lid on until it bubbled.
- Stir like crazy, add 1 cup of water and use a mixer to smooth it out more (put lid back on)
- Turn it down to low and keep cooking. add sugar (1 2/3 cup) and beat it some more (put lid back on)
- Let it cook on low until it is smooth with no lumps, stir it now and then (put lid back on)

This recipe was recreated by my mom with multiple experimental batches. The recipe was lost but she managed to recreate it from how she remembered it tasted and looked. When I tasted it, it was exactly as I remember her applesauce!
